  12.     Hello all. This is my first posting to this newsgroup and I want to
  13. make sure that it doesn't come off looking stupid.

  15. I am the System Administrator of a local BBS system that is nationally
  16. networking with 45 other systems. The software that I am running is a 
  17. Shareware BBS package called FutureVision 5.0. I have been in close contact 
  18. with the author of the software, Joshua Thompson, and we have been gradually
  19. working on intergrating into the software full ISO 7 layer support.

  21. In other words, each of our systems has a unique domain style address that 
  22. conforms with the Internet standard of User_Name@machine.domain...
  23.  
  24. The software executes under the METAL (Mega Extensive Telecommunications
  25. Application Language) environment published by Wilson Wares out of Columbus.

  27. We are at the point now, where we need to establish a domain on the Internet
  28. in order to begin testing our software with it. Unfortunately, none of us
  29. have any significant access to a Unix machine whre we will be able to 
  30. establish a domain for our network.

  32. Since our network is similar in concept to Fido (In that we use a store and 
  33. forward approach as the Apple II series has not Ethernet or TC/PIP support
  34. at this time.) we would need to find a host system that supports X/Y/Z modem
  35. transfers.

  37. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction?

  39. We ARE poor and this is all being developed as a side project in order to 
  40. bring our users more functionality. I have considered the possiblity
  41. of addressing CWRU to find out if I could write a grant proposal to do 
  42. such a project via them, but I think that for the meantime, I would rather
  43. concentrate on working with a small system. Possibly a Linux or BSD 386
  44. system with SLIP support or better yet, a direct link.

  46. Am I touching base? Way off on a cloud? Please help this fellow Clevelander
  47. get this project going. I am making absolutely NO money off of it (Neither
  48. is the actual Author, Joshua) and I don't plan on it. I simply want to 
  49. be able to maximize the use of my computer and investment time.
