  13. Department still holds this event?

  15. This is the contest where entrants compose and submit
  16. the worst opening line to a novel.  The contest is named
  17. after Bulwer-Lyton, author of The Last Days of Pompeii,
  18. and perhaps most known for the vile opening "It was a
  19. dark and stormy night..."
