- Does anyone know if Scott Rice at the San Jose State English
- Department still holds this event?
-
- This is the contest where entrants compose and submit
- the worst opening line to a novel. The contest is named
- after Bulwer-Lyton, author of The Last Days of Pompeii,
- and perhaps most known for the vile opening "It was a
- dark and stormy night..."
