- Two funny stories from the life of my 2.75 year old daughter:
-
- My husband travels a great deal, teaching classes. Both kids were thrilled
- when Daddy caught an early flight on his last trip, and gleefully helped
- him unpack. My husband told them how pleased he was that his class had
- given him a tea cup (most people would call it a coffee mug, but we don't
- drink coffee) that he liked a lot. Before he even unwrapped it, my
- daughter said "Blah cup Daddy. Don't like cup. Icky". She really carried
- on, and over the next few days, it became a family joke: "Do you like
- Daddy's cup Elizabeth?" got you a very heartfelt "Blah cup. Icky cup".
- Well, the next week she casually asked where Daddy's "pee cup" had gone;
- no wonder she thought it was icky! Maybe being in the midst of toilet
- training has some bearing on this one....
-
- Elizabeth accompanied me to the fabric store on Sunday, and became
- entranced by the huge display of buttons. She enjoys playing with my
- button box at home, and I think she thought she'd found heaven. By the
- time we got in line, I discovered she'd "acquired" one package of buttons
- (most were thankfully out of reach!) She instructed me to buy them, and
- I asked to see them to check out the price before committing myself.
- When I found they were $4 for 2 buttons, I said "Well, at least you have
- good taste". And yes, you guessed it, she immediately put them to her
- mouth and licked them, looking terribly puzzled! I clarified my statement,
- to the hilarity of the rest of the people in line. Reminded me of the old
- tuna commercials "We want tuna that taste good, not tuna with good taste".
