- Here are a few find time examples as well as a save time one.
-
- Problem: my son learned to read last year in first grade and I wanted him to
- continue reading throughout the summer. Reading is not his favorite activity.
-
- Solution: he read to me in the car on the way home from daycare, about 5 minutes,
- (or more if he got interested in his book). He picked out the books, often
- Frog and Toad books. If there was a word he couldn't read, he'd spell it out for
- me. We both enjoyed this extra story time.
-
-
- Problems: I don't enjoy paying the bills and balancing the checking account since
- they are boring activities. My son often feels the same way about his homework.
-
- Solution: we do them at the same time at the kitchen table so we have each other
- as company while we each do our own work.
-
-
- Problem: minimize grocery shopping time.
-
- Solution: only use one grocery store. Create a shopping list, organized by the
- store's aisles, of the things you most frequently buy. When you run out of
- something during the week, circle that item on the list (with a red pen).
- Before going shopping, use the list to see if you're low on any item. This way,
- I only go shopping once a week, at most, and rarely run out of an item. Sample
- of my list is below (yes, I keep it on-line so we can add items to it, and we can
- also accommodate changes in the store layout).
-
- PRODUCE:
- ORANGES, LEMONS, LIMES, GRAPES, APPLES, TOMATOES, MUSHROOMS, SPINACH,
- LETTUCE, DIET SALAD DRESSING, SCALLIONS, CARROTS, CELERY, BANANAS
-
- FRESH FISH
-
- 2 APPLESAUCE, CANNED PINEAPPLE, PICKLES, OLIVES, MAYONNAISE, MUSTARD, VINEGAR
-
- 3 RAISINS, DATES, FLOUR (WHITE, WHOLE WHEAT), SUGAR, COCONUT, PAM, OIL
