- Our ex-neighbours (we moved recently) have a daughter called Mattea. They
- said it is the feminine of Matthew, and they pronounce it Matty. I think
- another pronunciation would be Matt-ay-a. (Without being too critical,
- I think that Matt-ay-a is the "real" way to say it.) Until I saw it
- written I had always assumed her name to be Matilda, as they have a
- dutch background and I think Mathilde would be more common there, than
- Matilda is here, nowdays.
