  13.     Well, IBM is scheduled to announce what it will do with its dividend
  14.     next week (Jan. 26 is the actual date, I think).

  16.     The stock price has been hovering around 46 1/2 for the last few
  17.     days, but IBM option prices and open volume are way up.  Looks like
  18.     a lot of people are "placing their bets."

  20.     I'm going to stay away from the action myself but I'm interested to
  21.     know what y'all think is going to happen.

  23.         1) Will IBM cut its dividend?  If so, by how much?
  24.         2) What effect will this action have on IBM share price?

  27.     My own guesses:
  28.         * IBM will cut its dividend by at least 50%.  I would not be
  29.           surprised to see a 2/3 cut.
  30.         * This cut will spur the institutions into selling blocks of
  31.           IBM, which will temporarily drive down the share price to near 40,
  32.           followed by a rebound as other investors snap up the cheap
  33.           stock.
