- Huh? Are you saying that a radar detector is a Part 95 device?
-
- Fortunately, the FCC does not require listeners of amateur radio
- beacons to be licensed. Of course, the Engineer in Charge of an
- FCC facility can require you to turn your beacon off. One way
- transmissions are specifically allowed by 97.203.
-
- However, an unmodified unit falls into spectrum allocated to Part
- 15 field disturbance sensors, which are intentional radiators. I
- don't know whether any reduction in field strength is needed to
- make these devices legal.
-
- Actually, I'm not sure that these devices are really legal when used
- to upset people with radar detectors. But, I can't find anything that
- specifically prohibits such activity in the FCC rules. I suspect there
- may not be anything, as the rules are written to protect authorized
- services or uses of spectrum.

-
- ??? You have to modify a unit to transmit in amateur bands to comply with
- Part 95 which prohibits routine communication between the GMRS and the
- amateur service?
-
- Obviously just my opinions....
