- I need some suggestions concerning a possible fraud. I had decided
- to buy a merchandize from a person who posted using one of the
- anonymous posting services. He gave me a name and a mailing address.
- I sent him the check, but I was not smart enough to ask his real
- e-mail user id. As my luck would have it, after i sent the check
- the anon service originating from Australia was closed down. I
- found out from the bank that the check was cashed a while ago and
- of course I have not yet recieved the merchandize. If I knew this
- would have happened I would have blocked the check even though
- that would have costed me more than the check amount. Just that I
- hate to think that somebody would try to steal petty sums like 18
- dollars. He has to be real cheap guy to do that.
-
- I have purchased many times from net and things much more expensive
- than 18 bucks. I never ever had a bad experience till this time.
-
- I have a US mail address of the person. I do not even know if that
- is the real address. I would think he has my e-mail address. He
- promised to acknowledge on receiving my check. He never did.
-
- I would like to know if there is something I can do.....
-
- If this is not the right newsgroup please point me to the right
- one..
-
- many thanks
- d.
-
- ps: I did not include the name of the person because I do not want
- to be accused of slandering. It is quite possible that US mail
- screwed it up. But I am not so sure.
