- I too got the $79 offer and, probably, so did a bunch of other people.
- Consumer Reports had a little blurb about MathCad offers a few months
- ago. Evidently several offers for MathCad at different price points
- ($49-$79) were sent to individuals within the same department at some
- University. Once notified, CR, called the people at MathCad (sorry,
- can't recall the developer) and asked for an explanation. The marketing
- guy at the company explained that they regularly test different price
- points to get a feel for how much people will pay for their product --
- but then admitted that sending different offers to a single dept was a
- faux pas.
-
- The moral (my own): If you're interested in MathCad, call up the company
- and say that you'll give 'em $50 and no more then see what they say. ;-)
-
- And don't ask me about buying MathCad for you -- my coupon is no doubt in
- some landfill by now. ;-)
