- Hi all,
- Sorry if this is in some faq, but I couldn't find one for this group. I
- have a friend who developed a potential product he wanted to get a patent
- for and then seek out potential investors. He went to some company (who I
- think ripped him off) who did some market research and supposedly charged
- him $6000. He says he has this thing 'registered' with the patent office
- and it is about to expire in a month or so.
-
- Is it really $6000 for a patent in the United States? I find this
- difficult to believe, if it is true it would be a serious setback for the
- innovation of our country.
-
- Do you need a patent attorney to practically get a patent?
-
- Thanks in advance for all replies. I would really appreciate it, to prove
- him wrong ("told you SO!!" :-) ) and/or help him succeed - it really seems
- like a good idea - one of those
- I-can't-believe-it's-not-out-there-already(tm) kind of deals.
