  14. Sorry if this is in some faq, but I couldn't find one for this group.  I
  15. have a friend who developed a potential product he wanted to get a patent
  16. for and then seek out potential investors.  He went to some company (who I
  17. think ripped him off) who did some market research and supposedly charged
  18. him $6000.  He says he has this thing 'registered' with the patent office
  19. and it is about to expire in a month or so.

  21. Is it really $6000 for a patent in the United States?  I find this
  22. difficult to believe, if it is true it would be a serious setback for the
  23. innovation of our country.

  25. Do you need a patent attorney to practically get a patent?

  28. him wrong ("told you SO!!"  :-) ) and/or help him succeed - it really seems
  29. like a good idea - one of those
