-
- Very true Steven. The public has a very strange perception of
- what 9-1-1 is for. I often enjoy calls from persons making
- complaints by dialing 9-1-1. They want there complaints to be
- annonymous. With all the publicity about Enhanced 9-1-1 here
- in Connecticut, you think they would figure it out.
-

-
- How many calls do you get about the cable TV being out. Our
- seven digit emergency number is close to the Cable TV Repair
- line.
- We can always tell when cable is out. Either someone calls and
- screams, or we get a bizillion hang ups.
-
-
- SC> As many folks in this echo who work in public safety
- communications
- SC> can tell you, situations like this are not uncommon, and there are
- SC> backup plans already worked out for them.
-
- Also very true Steve. Without backup plans, you can be in big
- trouble.
- I have answered 9-1-1 for tiwns over 45 minutes from me because
- of
- a Haz-Mat incident. I have had a Haz-Mat incident in the parking
- lot
- of the Comm Center. We have a notebook ready to go at a moments
- notice.
- If we have to evacuate, we grab the book, and take it with us.
- It's got
- the trunk numbers and other important data in it so we can order
- the
- transfer from outside the building. Also, the center in the
- next
- town has a copy of it, so they can do it for us if we can't, or
- to
- expedite, and we have there info as well for vice versa.
-
- The public can rest assured that 9-1-1 will not fail them...
