- DM>For what its worth I was talking with with folks in Maine this week
- re
- DM>OSHA and volunterr departments :-). they offered the comment that
- DM>departments with mutual aid arrangements with volunteer departments
- that
- DM>don't have OSHA compliance can be in for a nasty surprise from
- OSHA...
- DM>your OSHA peformance can be hit if they do "dumb" things such as
- entering
- DM>a toxic spill area without PPE and you are there with them..<g>..

- I would be very interested to know more about this. Is this if we a
- called into their district or if we call them into ours or does it work
- both ways. Also what can the consequences be concerning this. I hope
- this doesn't open up a can of worms but this is the first time that I
- have heard of this. I was under the impression that we were only liable
- if the mutual aid companies were in our district. Any other information
- would be greatly appreciated. I know my department is in compliance but
- I am not sure of the other departments. I will bring this to the
- attention of the chief and see what he has to say about this. Again
- thanks for the info and anything else you have or could tell me would
- be
- greatly appreciated.
