- In the volunteer department I belong to (in Long Island, just on the New
-
- York City Border) we run 1st, 2nd, and 3rd due for all 911 Ambulance
- Calls in
- our district (approximately 12 sq. miles) with about 2000 calls per
- year.
-
- When we get dispatched, the next re-transmission of an alarm depends on
- the
- type of call. If we give a 21 (Enroute), they will not re-transmit the
-
- alarm. Depending on the type of call, they will either wait 60 seconds
- or 90
- seconds to retransmit with a maximum of 2 retransmits (total of 3
- transmissions).
-
- So, for a call that has a cardiac potention, say the alarm is
- transmitted at
- 13:00:00 hours, it will be retransmitted at 13:01:00, and again at
- 13:02:00 -
- if an ambulance does not give a 21 (Enroute) by 13:03:00, mutual aid is
-
- called.
-
- Basically, we're looking at having to get a vehicle on the road within 3
-
- minutes or a maximum 4.5 minutes.
