  15. Regulations.

  17. Presented by Delaware State Fire School and A.I.D., Inc.
  18.  
  19.  
  20. The Cargo Tank Inspection Workshop has been developed and is being
  21. offered to
  22. Industry; Federal, State, and Local Agencies, that want to upgrade
  23. their
  24. employees' skills in this subject area.
  25.  
  26. The U.D. D.O.T. requires that a thorough inspection be given to all
  27. commercial
  28. vehicles using the nations's rail, highway, and waterway systems.  All
  29. such
  30. inspections must be completed by qualified individuals and properly
  31. documented
  32. before any vehicle can be loaded or shipped.
  33.  
  34. The scope of these inspections for cargo tank cars are covered under
  35. D.O.T. 49
  36. DFR, Parts 172, 173, 174, 180, 396, and 397.  In addition to those
  37. applicable
  38. parts of the new "Process Safety Management Regulations (O.S.H.A.
  39. 1910:119), 
  40. Following these regulations will assure the tank, tank fittings, safety
  41. appliances, running gear, under frame, stenciling and required testing
  42. are in
  43. good working order and up to date.  The individual's ability to perform
  44. these
  45. inspections thoroughly and efficiently depends on the quality of their
  46. training and experience doing the job.
  47.  
  48. The importance of doing any vehicle inspection and doing it correctly is
  49. that
  50. it minimizes unnecessary delays, helps assure safe and timely
  51. deliveries,
  52. reduces accidents and therefore cuts down on overall transportation
  53. cost.
  54.  
  55. The eight hours a student spends in this course will make them familiar
  56. with
  57. all applicable regulations related to the inspection of these vehicles. 
  58. The
  59. student will gain practical knowledge during the hands-on portion of
  60. this
  61. program.  At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to
  62. perform
  63. these inspections in a very thorough and efficient manner.
  64.  
  65. Lunch will be provided.  Work clothes, hard hats, safety glasses.  Steel
  66. toe
  67. shoes optional.  Shorts and cut-offs are not permitted.

  72. Tuition:   The fee is $225.00 per student.  Fee includes instruction,

  74. meal and brake refreshments.
