  12. I was just curious...have any of you who post in this group ever taught on 
  13. an indian reservation?  I did a month of teacher aiding last January on the Rosebud 
  14. Reservation in Mission, SD, at the public high school in senior English.  I absolutely loved 
  15. working with the seniors I had; they have so much talent and life in them.  
  16. Unfortunately, there are numerous teachers that give up because of 
  17. behavior problems, letting gifted students slip by unnoticed.  I keep in 
  18. touch with a few of my students, exchanging poetry and letters.  Although 
  19. my practice teaching was done as part of a requirement for the education 
  20. program here, I chose to go out there after spending spring break out on 
  21. the Rosebud.  I continue to go back--once for graduation of my students, 
  22. and a twice again for spring break.  I love the people; I loved teacher 
  23. aiding (even creating and teaching a few lessons on my own without the 
  24. teacher in the room).  However, I am not sure if I would be suitable to 
  25. teach there full time.  I have heard so many teachers say how draining it 
  26. is on the reservation, how little social life one has...I sometimes wonder 
  27. if I would end up feeling like that.  (Those teachers are white, not raised 
  28. on the reservation--like myself.)

  30. Could anyone share any experiences they had working on reservations or 
  31. similar locations?  I will be doing my student teaching this coming fall as 
  32. a 5th year senior, and then....job hunt!  Any suggestions of where to look?
