- There are a number of these scams going on. One call I got was from
- the "New Jersey Police Athletic League". Being a supporter of our local
- PAL, I asked some questions, then I asked point-blank, "Are you a
- volunteer worker for the NJ PAL or are you employed by a telemarketer?"
- On the second try, she admitted she was being employed by a telemarketer.

- In another case of soliciting under the "police" name, one town put out
- a warning that they receive no funding from some statewide police charity
- (I think the "charity" misrepresented that they were supported by "your"
- police chief.)
