Now let's be fair. Carter cannot be held personally responsible for the
inflation during his term. He can take some of the blame (just like Reagan and Bush deserve SOME for their 12 years) but Congress is the real monster here. IMHO
We have got to stop pointing our finger straight at the president
any time something in this country goes wrong. The president has far less
control over the economy than we give him credit for.....unless of course
congress gives him everything he asks for. Then you're in for some rough times.

Oh contrare!! It's not a matter of competition. Perhaps the competition
(Canada, Mexico etc.) are not up to your standards. Or maybe it's just not
worth the trouble to renounce your U.S. citizenship and settle down somewhere
else. It's not that there are not alternatives, it's that ALL of them are
worse than what we've got here and now. ( of course, I'll bet Slick Willy can do
a lot of damage in 4 years..... ).
