  25. About the only thing I've ever found that makes the OS keep
  26. locking a uucp modem port is that it is seeing CD on the port and
  27. thinks a modem has connected and someone wants to log in.  This
  28. CD (on pin 8) could be either the modem is set to force CD on, or
  29. the cable pinning is wrong.

  31. If the site used to work fine, and the cable has not been
  32. changed, I would suspect the modem is setting CD high.
