  13. I'm trying to set up a SCO OpenDesktop machine as a news server - having
  14. obtained the nntp binaries from ftp.c-mols.siu.edu the nntp daemon seems to be
  15. working and talking to the outside world. Unfortunately it has no newsgroups to
  16. offer. I understand you can use the provided nntpxfer to transfer news from
  17. another server - but the SCO restriction on filename lengths means that it
  18. can't store the details of the last successful invocation in a file, as you are
  19. suggested to do. Even if you get round this by providing the last invocation
  20. details on the command line, it just dies. No error message or anything.

  22. Does anyone have any ideas ? Is there a way round the restriction on file name
  23. length ? (I suspect that's not the problem anyhow). Do I have to have a `news'
  24. account set up and run nntpxfer from that ? Or am I barking up the wrong tree
  25. entirely ? Has anyone got this to work ??
