  10. Is there anyone out there who has built a Unix box and could tell me
  11. about their experience.

  13. I have been thinking of building because I believe it is cheaper and
  14. more flexable than buying.  I'm planning to use the GNU Hurd, when it
  15. eventually emerges, GNU applications/utilities and X with gwm.

  17. It seems that the easiest way would be using components intended for
  18. powerful DOS machines, since they are widely available.  I'm curious if
  19. anyone, as an amateur, has constructed a box with a design different
  20. from the PC standard.

  22. My dream would be to use some Inmos Transputers but I think this would
  23. conflict with my goal of minimal cost!
