  21. My 2cts:
  22. I'm using vi because it's the full-screen version of ed(1) _and_ it's
  23. available on just about any UNIX system.

  25. I'm using UNIX for about 15 years now. I started with Version 5 on a PDP 11/45
  26. with DecWriters/Beehives. We used ed then and I've learnt to
  27. appreciate regular expressions.
  28. Vi uses the very same commands as ed, yet it's a full-screen editor.

  30. Besides, I have two UNIX boxes at home, one running SysV, one running
  31. 4.2bsd. Both have vi!
  32.  
  33. Last but not least, it's a "no frill's" editor: no fancy menues, no
  34. border lines, no tab replacement. Just in the style of UNIX.
