  23.     No it isn't an S3 or ET4000 chip, it is their own mach32 accelerator chip.

  26.     however it does emulate ibm 8514 graphics device and generic unix drivers
  27.     for this standard should work, so x-windows is possible.

  30.     Then again with 8514 drivers you aren't accessing the mach32 acclerator
  31.     at all so you are paying a big price for performance you won't use.
  32.     Also I believe the 8514 emulation is 1024x768x256 .  If you want to
  33.     use the 1280x1024x256 modes or any of the other hi-colour or true-colour
  34.     modes your going to have to come up with your own driver as ATI is 
  35.     having enough problems delivering working drivers for MSDOS and windows
  36.     let alone OS/2 and unix.
