  14. A MEMO TO 386BSD USENIX ATTENDEES:
  15.  
  16.     Due to deadlines and other work commitments, Bill and I will be
  17. unable to attend the 386BSD BOF Tuesday evening at USENIX in San Diego, 
  18. CA. USA. We hope to meet with 386BSD users and hear about what you want 
  19. from 386BSD -- possibly even at our own 386BSD conference -- later in 
  20. the year. 
  21.  
  22.     Instead, Chris Demetriou will be leading the 386BSD BOF. Chris 
  23. has been an enormous help to 386BSD users, and has himself put out new
  24. work to be incorporated into 386BSD. We hope you will attend this BOF
  25. and support him and each other in discussing new 386BSD work. If there 
  26. are any additional questions, feel free to contact us.

  28.     If people have questions about 386BSD directions or policy, have 
  29. them contact us via the usual channels and we will deal with them. We 
  30. always welcome courteous and thoughtful discussion on any 386BSD-related 
  31. issues.

  33.     For those 386BSD users who attend this USENIX and other conferences,
  34. I have this small piece of advice -- be proud of who you are and what you 
  35. have done.  Most users of 386BSD cannot afford to take the time and money 
  36. to attend these conferences, so you few who went to the trouble and expense 
  37. represent not just yourselves but a very large and dynamic community of users.
  38. There are hundred-of-thousands of people all over the world who are also part 
  39. of 386BSD, so you are not alone.  
  40.  
  41.     Please try to rise above petty bickering and trivial insults, and 
  42. steer clear of gossip and character-assassination. There is no point to 
  43. reacting negatively to envy and bitterness. Remember -- 386BSD is doing 
  44. just fine, and the best response to uncouth or ill-tempered remarks is 
  45. the success all of you have already made of 386BSD! 
  46.  
  47.     There are a lot of exciting things happening with 386BSD. And this 
  48. is only the beginning!

  50.     But most of all -- HAVE FUN!
