  14. I just spent most of the afternoon downloading tex.tar.Z
  15. from wuarchive.
  16.  
  17. to TeX something (OK for this part). When I tried to dvips
  18. the output bad things happened.
  19.  
  20. 1) I get a warning that a shared library cannot be found.
  21. "loadshlibs: lib /usr/local/shlib/libX11_s.5.01 not found "
  22.  
  23. 2) dvips can't find the ".300pk" version of fonts.
  24.  
  25. 3) there are *NO* instructions on how to setup the system
  26. (ie are there ENV variables that need to be set?)

  29. I manually tryed to run mf and cmmf, these are the two
  30. programs that are evidently linked to the shared library,
  31. there maybe more.
  32. they immediately croak.(there may be more...)

  52. I set TEXFONTS to point to the fonts directory in the distribution
  53. (thats how we do it on our machine at school.)

  55. Does the "mf" program make the *.300pk files on the fly.
  56. Is there a workaround to the missing shared library?

  59. rotate pages for example).
