  29. And yet (the whole point...) this RTU is bundled with a SPARCstation. I know
  30. that this does not represent the entire cost, and a set of manuals or the
  31. answerbook will bump it up, too, but the original poster was comapring the
  32. cost of Solaris 2 on SPARC hardware to a PC with MS-DOS.

  34. This has been pointed out as a silly comparison. Believe it or not, the
  35. original poster has emailed me saying approx. "But you can get 2 free x86
  36. UNIXes".

  38. Sorry, but that fact will not kill the SPARC workstation market, nor Solaris.

  41. Windows/NT will not kill Solaris/SPARC until well after release (that's late
  42. this year, _maybe_).

  44. DOS/Windows on PCs has not killed/will not ever kill the SPARC/Solaris
  45. market.

  49. People are happy to pay a premium for a system that can be guaranteed to
