- Sorry everyone, but I can't resist this one :-)

- Oops! Windows is cheap, but you have already had the cost of MS-DOS bundled
- into the system.
-
- The Solaris 2.1 CD-ROM for SPARCstations in AUSTRALIA is AUD$100. That's
- about USD$67 at today's exchange rate (I don't know what the US list is).
- With OpenWindows for $0.00.
- Where do you get the $1000 from?
-
- Let's talk about Windows/NT when it is released, OK?

-
- How much faster is a SPARCstation that a PC. That's why the software is more
- expensive, because the vendor thinks you can do more on a Sun. Is he right?
- Depends on the application...

-
- Since when has DOS/Windows been competition for SunOS in ECAD? How much are
- you willing to pay for memory protection and hardware multitasking and built
- in networking (and a reall Ethernet, and...)

-
- They are listening, and most people know what they are up to. You seem to
- think that everyone regards what _you_ will pay a reasonable pricing policy.
- This is just not so, and Sun will not be selling you Solaris and a SPARCstation
- for $1500. They are not set up for the home user, and that is that.
-
- Unless you mean "Sun should sell me Solaris 2.1 on x86 for $200 or they will
- be forced out of business by the intense competition of people buying DOS
- instead".
-
- They will charge whatever they think people will pay for it. Please remember
- that DOS/Windows isn't all that people buy for PC's. Are all PC UNIXes $200?
- I think not.
-
- Solaris won't be either.
