- I have a Seagate ST41650N disk (Wren8) connected to a SparcStation 2.
- After a few days of normal operation, it failed, with the nessage:
- Block 1835008 (1374/8/6) Fatal non-media error (hardware error).
- Then almost 1000 blocks resulted defective.
-
- It was replaced by a new unit, that repeated the same message,
- this time during format. Changing cables, sparcstation, SCSI
- address does not work.
-
- It looks like an interface problem, also because 1835008 is
- 1C0000 in hex, but seems also not to be due to faulty equipment
- (we changed everything).
-
- The entry in format.dat is the standard one for the ST41650.
- We have installed the patch to the OS for filesystems > 1GB,
- but if you know of a "newer" patch, or one that has been tested
- with this drive, it woukd be appreciated.
-
- Did anyone else met this problem before? Any suggestions
- about something we did wrong?
-
- Thank you very much in advance
