- i have a small problem. through a quirk [i.e., a crash], the
- manual pages on the small network of NeXTs which i administrate have
- become faultily indexed.
-
- i would like to return the .index's to their former state (the one in which the
- Digital Librarian understands how to build man pages, if necessary, and knows
- that the man directories are arranged hierarchically, etc.
-
- i have been completely unable to get it to be in this condition.
-
- when i attempt to rebuild (manually, using ixBuild, etc.; or automatically,
- from Librarian) these indices, two things always happen: the nroff/troff files
- are analyzed as they are (in pre-nroff text format) and the files are indexed
- beginning at the /usr/man level. (i.e., all of the files show as cat1/csh, or
- man1/trn, for example.)
-
- can anyone help me with this? i am quite frustrated and have been unable to
- piece together how to do this from the documentation (man pages and NeXT
- manuals) available to me. email is fine (maybe even preferred, given the
- volume on this group).
