  17. One of my CS profs at Cornell told me 10 years ago that anyone who
  18. wanted to make any sort of money with computers ought to shoot
  19. themselves rather than get a CS PhD.  As he put it, "at the end of
  20. the program, you emerge poor, knowing too much about the wrong things,
  21. and several years behind the geeks with BA's in senority.  A good
  22. bullet-wound, on the other hand, does less damage to your mind and
  23. wallet, and takes much less time to recover from."

  25. Besides, if you have a PhD is CS, you're not allowed to dirty yourself
  26. by actually USING a computer.  CS is a science, not something grubby;
  27. leave the programming to the scuzzy engineers!  ;^)
