- Some have suggested shipping by March of this year. My follow-up
- question is two fold:
-
- i> What is the considered opinion as to how quickly after
- release Pentium based system will be available (direct-market/
- mail-order -- since these seem the fastest vendors to turn out new
- products)?
- and
-
- ii> Do you suspect the Pentium will be strapped onto existing
- architecture at first (meaning at best, an ISA or EISA 32 bit VL-bus
- board), or do you think: (a) it will be predominately on another board
- (e.g. the now supra-IBM licensed micro-channel) or (b) will be given a
- new board right from the beginning (64 bit VL on ISA/EISA, or other)?

- ps one vendor today was trying to tell me not to wait for the Pentium
- since it was only advantagious for those doing major math
- calculations. I figure even if not taxed by my graphic and video
- (production) work, it will still scream by the 486.
-
- pps. question two is especially important to me since my video
- production hardware is on ISA/Eisa boards.
