  14. Hello everyone,
  15.     I am in need of assistance.  I am an IBM user and have had little 
  16. experience with Macs.  I am on several local BBS's where a lot, I mean
  17. A LOT of Mac and IBM bashing goes on.  Now, of course I stick up for IBM, and
  18. it's also amusing to watch the other users get irritated and say stupid things
  19. (the average user age on the particular board to which I am referring is 14), 
  20. but I am as ignorant about Macs as they are about IBM.  The keep referring to
  21. these "speed tests" and "benchmarks", but no one can seem to remember who
  22. performed them or under what conditions, etc.  These users have also requested
  23. that I upload specs on Intel microprocessors (which is what I have been doing
  24. for months now) so that they can compare them to Motorolla processors.  What
  25. I really would like is an UNBIASED comparison of Mac and IBM, as well as Intel
  26. and Motorolla.  In addition, I would like to be referred to a GOOD technical 
  27. reference manual for Macs in my everlasting pursuit of knowlege.  I'm not asking
  28. for anyone to tell me how good the Macs are or how crappy the IBM's are because
  29. I like my IBM and I'm not going to buy a Mac, I merely wish to become more
  30. educated on the subject so that I don't sound as ignorant as the afore mentioned
  31. Mac using "IBM experts".  For example, I have a very good book called "Upgrading
  32. and Repairing PC's" published by QUE (I like QUE books very much and have
  33. several others).  If any of you are familiar with this book, I am looking for 
  34. the same type of thing with regard to a Mac.  Thanks for any help you can
  35. provide.
