- The 82780 is an Intel support chip that provides high speed, 8 channel DMA,
- 20 interrupt lines, internal timers, DRAM refresh timing, and a set of steak
- knives. I would prefer to use it on a project based around a 486 rather
- than Intels 82350 chipset because I don't need (want) all the extras the
- chipset comes with. However, the data sheet for the 82780 says that it's
- optimized for the 386 bus, and I can't determine whether it will function
- on the 486 bus. The NA# input to the 82780 I can work around, but are the
- timings on the 486 bus so different from the 386 that it precludes the use
- of the 82780? Any replies or pointers to applications notes would be
- appreciated.

- Thanks in advance,
- Rick.
