  13. This will sound like we are regressing back to the mainframe paradigm :-(
  14. However budgetary constraints are forcing us to consider the possibility of
  15. configuring a PC network with a high end 486 with say 500 MB of disk, and
  16. four or five SVGA monitors hanging off of it.  The rationale is that these
  17. are not the principal machines for the user, and will be used only for word
  18. processing and spreadsheets, etc.  Furthermore, all the data will be resident
  19. on a single machine.

  21. Any comments on if this is feasible ?  Whether it is a good idea ?  If the
  22. overhead of the networking software/hardware for the monitors is really
  23. worth it ?  Any estimates of what I may expect to pay ?
