- I have a query on two compatibility problems:
-
- 1) I can't run my VGA card in 16 bit mode in the presence of a Western Digital
- 1006-SR2 HD controller (don't know about other RLL controllers) although it
- will run in 8 bit mode. Are these two peripherals fundamentally incompatible or
- is there a fix to this problem?
-
- 2) I am running 2 RLL hard disks off the above mentioned controller and would
- like to add an additional IDE or other type of hard disk without trashing my
- existing drives. The 1006-SR2 manual says that the controller will coexist with
- an IDE with one of the controllers set at the secondary address (not sure which
- one). I realise that it should be possible to run two controllers in a system,
- one at the primary and one at the secondary, but this does not always work in
- practice. Does anybody have any experience with my proposed setup?
