- I have worked with these drives in the past and have noticed that there is
- a small copper contact on the circuit board side of the drive. This
- contact grounds the hard drive motor shaft. The rattling or squealing
- that the drive makes can be suppressed by using a graphite based lubricant
- between the contact and the shaft.
