- Just a warning, buyer beware.
-
- My 79 yr grandfather decides he wants to learn about computers and wants
- a cheap machine to learn on. After discussing with various people, we
- decided to get a 386sx33. We ordered it from Dee One Systems in California
- based on a reasonably low price in Computer Shopper.
-
- I should also state we ordered it without software. When it arrived, we
- booted it up off the hard disk. I was a little surprised at first, because
- it didn't boot off the MSDOS floppy in the A drive. Since it came up on
- the C drive, I looked and found command.com, fdisk.com and format.com on
- the hard disk, but nothing else. When I tried to install DOS from the
- floppy, no lights, nothing and a drive failure. After trying to contact
- them for over an hour, I opened the case. Low and behold, they never
- connected the ribbon cable from the floppy to the HD controller.
-
- Says a lot for their quality control........
-
- On the flip side, we ordered it with a .39 DP monitor, and the manual for
- the one we received says it's a .28........ Go figure...
