- Any help here would definitely be appreciated. I have a 286 clone machine with
- a Western Digital 40Meg drive. Often lately, when booting up, I get an error
- upon initialization of the hard drive controller. The disk does not spin up.
- I can get it going by taking off the cover and "fiddling" with the drive and
- controller card. Is this an easily fixable problem? Is it the drive or the
- card? I suspect the drive. Someone suggested I re-install DOS, which I will try
- tonight... any other suggestions? BTW, the drive sounds like R2D2 when it's
- being accessed, which may or may not be related to my troubles...
-
- Any help would be *greatly* appreciated... thanks to whoever can help...
