- My computer just recently started displaying dots (lit up single pixels) in
- a line about 2/3 of the way down the screen, and in other random places on
- the screen. These dots don't go away even if I reset the computer, and
- they are present in the BIOS setup screen. If anyone has any ideas about
- what kind of problem this might be, or how to diagnose it, please e-mail
- me. My setup is:
-
- 386/40 Motherboard w/ AMI BIOS and Forex chipset
- Northman SVGA 4MVD monitor
- Trident TVGA-8900 Vga card with 1 meg ram
-
- I've also booted the machine under both MSDOS and 386BSD Unix, and the dots
- exist in both, so I doubt that it is a virus. I believe it is either in
- 1) the screen
- 2) the vga card
- or
- 3) the bios
-
- Any suggestions, comments, or replies will be a big help.
-
- P.S. Also, the dots only appear on certain letters in certain locations
- on the screen.
-
- Thanks,
