  13. I have a 486-66, ALI-M1409 chipset motherboard with 1991 AMI bios
  14. and have experienced the same problem only worse....
  15.  
  16. It had 4 1Meg SIMMs in bank 0 and everything was fine with this config
  17. I then added 4 1Mx9 70nS SIMMs in bank 1 and the system now tells me that
  18. I only have 1Meg of RAM and no extended memory.
  19. If I take the SIMMs out of bank 1 it goes back to 4Meg again
  20. There are no DIP switches or jumpers on the board for memory config.

  22. The new SIMMs look slightly different to the old SIMMS in as much as the
  23. old SIMMs have 3 chips all the same size with 8 legs on each side
  24. 2off Pt no.- HM514400AS7
  25. 1off Pt no.- HM511000AJP7
  26.  
  27. new SIMMs have 3 chips 2 large, 1 small with 4 legs on each side
  28. 2off Pt No.- M514256A-80J   (OKI)
  29. 1off Pt No.- M51C256-80     (OKI)

  31. Lets hope someone out there is clever enough to solve our problems
