- You know, I've had a similar experience with a Maxtor 7130
- drive. When first installed Checkit gave it a 700+k transfer
- rate. Its now dropped down to 350 or so.

- I wonder if the automatic sector substitution (where the drive
- will move stuff from a bad sector to a reserved, good sector)
- has kicked in. Its supposed to be transparent. Yes, I have been
- doing disk optimization.
