- I have an Adaptec RLL controller and a Seagate (RLL) ST238 drive.
- Either the controller or the drive (or both) is bad.
- Since I don't have an extra RLL controller or RLL drive, Its difficult
- to trouble shoot.
-
- Since I'm under the impression the ST238 (RLL) drive is the same
- as Seagate's ST225 (MFM) drive (with the difference being something
- along the lines of different platter surface density), I'd like to
- use a known good MFM controller to test the ST238.
-
- Q: Can I use a MFM controller with the ST238?
- (I understand that after low-level formatting, the storage will
- be reduced (from the ~30Meg using RLL to ~20M using MFM). However,
- that's OK by me.)
-
- Any help would be *GREATLY* appreciated.
- Thanks in advance.
