- I have heard of people using demagnetizers (the sort of thing used to bulk
- erase tapes and disks) to degauss a monitor. I personally don't know how
- well that works. You could take the monitor to a TV repair shop and they
- should be able to degauss it for a few dollars (if they want more than a few
- dollars to do it, then they probably are trying to rip you off).
- Many monitors have built-in degaussing coils activated briefly right after the
- monitor is turned on -- but they are usually not nearly as effective as using
- a separate "external" degaussing device.
