  15. These groups hierachies started long BEFORE 'PC' started to include non-IBM
  16. machines like the Mac, Lisa, Apple IIGS, etc, but I get your point.
  17. The problem is that 'PC' by itself has STOPPED being a synimum(sp) for IBM.
  18. How many products are labeled 'PC compatable' as opposed to 'IBM compatable'.
  19. Very few.  PC means a personal computer; computer designed to be used
  20. by one person (Dictionary of Computer Terms 3rd edition) it does NOT mean
  21. IBM compatable.
  22. I am worried that JUST pc will result in a small influx of Amiga and AppleII
  23. people since those machinces are ALSO called 'PCs' and a latter influx of
  24. the PowerPC crowd.
  25. I personly believe that a group should clearly and
  26. consisely state what it is about {epesially if the FAQ on the groups is
  27. somewhat irregular in posting.}  May be .pc.clone. would be better then
  28. .ibm.pc.  though JUST .pc. is NOT a good idea.
