  12. I have been trying to use 3rd party 4 MB memory boards with a Hewlett-Packard
  13. Laserjet IIP printer.  The board will work fine for awhile, but eventually
  14. I will get "Error 53" at power up, which says the board is bad.  I can pull
  15. out the board, reinsert it, and power up with no error reproducably.

  17. 1    Is there a device to test the integrity of the DRAM chips on the
  18.     expansion board?

  20. 2    Is there any way that the printer could be "stressing" or charging
  21.     a portion of the memory board, leading the the error condition?  HP says
  22.     this is impossible.

  24. 3    Does anyone know of 3rd party boards which will accept 256 KB 9 chip
  25.     SIMMS to use as printer expansion memory?  There must be a ton
  26.     of these lying around from people who have upgraded PC's to larger
  27.     capacity SIMMS.
