  14. I need to transfer (on a continuing basis) small text files to and from
  15. a laptop with only a working parallel port (the serial port is dead).
  16. I was hoping to get 95% effectiveness using a parallel-to-parallel
  17. connection.  This would let me use the laptop as a portable text
  18. processor, at least.  It is apparently impossible to easily fix
  19. the serial port, as the system is out of production/support/"we
  20. don't even wanna talk about fixing that piece of junk...".  So, 
  21. anyone have experience with this (BTW, I've seen the device that
  22. "makes your LPT: port a COM: port - for the price I'd just buy a
  23. working laptop.  Thanks for any hints!

  26.        it breaks.
