  11. I ordered a 66V on Jan. 1, 1993, and was told that
  12. systems were getting out in "about 3 weeks."
  13. That put the receive date at Jan. 21, tomorrow.

  15. My original configuration included upgrades to
  16. Tower case, 256k cache, 2MB + RAMDAC for ATI,
  17. CD-ROM drive, and Fax/Modem.
  18.  
  19. After reading here of horrific delays, I grilled my
  20. sales rep about these delays, and my chosen
  21. configuration.  She ONLY THEN admitted that
  22. ALL of those things could contribute to delays
  23. (esp. the cache, CD-ROM, and RAMDAC).  So I
  24. asked if I could order these things before the
  25. 30-day 'grace' period expired, and still get the
  26. "with system" price.  Yes.

  28. So we re-worked the order to the stock configuration +
  29. Tower and Fax/Modem (you can't get Towers, except "with
  30. system," and the Fax/Modem was not expected to be a
  31. problem).

  33. Well, this friggin' company sent my machine one day
  34. EARLY!  I can't believe it!  This is highly irresponsible
  35. behavior, of which I do not approve, and I will notify
  36. the company of as much IN WRITING.

  38. This has caused me MANY problems.

  40. 1. I had to give up all the hard work I did preparing
  41.     myself for a long delay.
  42. 2. UPS came while I was at work, and I got home too
  43.     late to go pick it up.
  44. 3. I probably won't even have the cashier's check ready
  45.     by tomorrow for the C.O.D. portion I need to pay
  46.     to bring the sucker home.
  47. 4. I have to go to bed tonight, knowing that the sucker
  48.     is scarcely 3 miles away, sitting in a cold UPS
  49.     warehouse, inside its cow-spotted box, catching
  50.     ridicule from all the employees.
  51. 5. I had to jump through many hoops to get the direct, local
  52.     UPS warehouse number to speak with a local employee.
  53.     When I made arrangements for the final transaction,
  54.     I specified that the shipment was from a company
  55.     called Gateway 2000.  He asked if it was in the
  56.     boxes that look like cows.  I said, no, that's not a
  57.     cow, that's my baby and you better wash your hands
  58.     before touching it.
  59. 6. I lost one whole day's worth of interest on my money, which
  60.     SHOULD HAVE been sitting in my account that day.
  61. 7. I have to endure a whole 'nother day (at least) of this
  62.     piece-of-sh*t, slow-as-a-pig, worthless-proprietary-MCA,
  63.     good-for-nuthin' PS/2 55sx.
