- The above will work. Your best bet is to get another HP DAT of like
- type and put it on his Sun. (2GB 35470A, or 8GB 35480A). Make sure the firmware
- rev level is at least 8.0 or 9.09 and properly configured for the Sun Sparc
- SCSI bus environment (We make them if you cant find drive config'd for Sun as
- opposed to HP workstations). Then tar will be compatible across the HP to Sun
- and back.

- DONT use another type like Archive DAT or WangXXX DAT drives because they have
- problems with read/write compatibility with HP DAT drives (HP is of course the
- superior one).

- You could drag the drive from one machine to another but I dont
- recommend it because it requires internal and firmware modifacation to be
- compatible with the Sun Workstation. Really too much work ripping apart the
- drive on a regular basis. Not to mention wear and tear on the HP and Sun
- workstations SCSI buses.
