- This sounds like a known problem where the later versions of Exabyte
- firmware were changed to do immediate reporting on file marks when they
- shouldn't. Perhaps you're writing file marks at the end of an archive,
- and the rewind command sent to the drive fails because it's busy when
- it shouldn't be.

- If the vendors from whom you bought the drives represented them as being
- supported on certain systems, then you should work with them to get the
- problem resolved. It should be possible with a firmware downgrade.
