  14. To boot a 700 in single-user mode do the following:
  15.  
  16. - interrupt the auto-boot sequence by hitting the ESCAPE key
  17.   You will get this menu:
  18.  
  19.      b)    Boot from specified device
  20.      s)    Search for bootable devices
  21.      a)    Enter Boot Administration mode
  22.      x)    Exit and continue boot sequence
  23.      ?)    Help

  25.       Select from menu:
  26.  
  27. - select the boot device and tell the system to boot ISL by
  28.   typing "b p0 isl" at the above prompt (p0 should be your boot disk).
  29.   This will result in:
  30.  
  31.      Trying scsi.6.0
  32.      Boot path initialized.
  33.      Attempting to load IPL.
  34.  
  35.      Hard Booted.
  36.  
  37.      ISL Revision ...................
  38.  
  39.      ISL>

  41. - at the ISL> prompt type "hpux -is boot disc(;0)/hp-ux"
  42.   This will boot hp-ux in single-user mode.
