  12. I have several audio-related questions about the HP 705/710 system:

  14.    1) Is it possible to change the volume of the audio output without
  15.       having to run (graphical) programs like "acontrol"?   For example,
  16.       is there a simple program in the form of:

  18.                changevol /dev/audio vol-level
  19.  
  20.       that wouldn't necessarily have to be run under X-windows?
  21.  
  22.    2) Is there a file-format converter (sox, perhaps?) available to
  23.       convert from .snd to .au files.  (.au files seem to be easier
  24.       to play with "player", than .snd files...)
  25.  
  26.    3) Has anyone added any audio capabilities to any HP software, such
  27.       as xclock, etc.?
